Home Business Success Strategies For People Who Work Full Time

So you work a full time job outside of the home and you are wondering if it really is possible to also have a home business. I have successfully operated my home business while working full time for two years now and so I know for a fact that it can be done. Is it easy? No way! In fact you really have to be committed and plan well in order for it to happen but it is possible.

Here are some ideas to help you in your quest for home business success while working a full time job at the same time.

Plan ahead. This is crucial. Take advantage of your weekends to write down in a planner the exact action steps you will take every day. Along with these action steps you also need to write down and gather any materials into one place that you will need to carry out your actions.

Create an on the go packet with brochures, business cards, samples and any other relevant information to your business and keep one with you at all times. Always be prepared to do and talk business.

Take advantage of any opportunities you have at work to promote your business. For example, give your products as gifts to your co-workers, put catalogs in the faculty or employee lounge, make sure everyone at your workplace knows about your business etc.

Use your holidays and time off to your full advantage. Plan ahead by working on any internet marketing activities in mass amounts and saving them to post later on your computer, make cold calls, create flyers etc.

Get rid of your TV or at the very least quit watching. This will create quite a bit of extra time that you can use to work on your business.

Commit to spending a certain amount of time each day working on your business. Know exactly when this will be and write it down in your planner. Refuse to let anyone or anything get in the way of making these happen.

Use your lunch breaks. Depending upon your specific business and place of work, you may even be able to host a lunch party and sell some of your products during your lunch hour a few times a year. If not, you can use your lunch hour to pass out business cards to the people at the place where you go to each lunch, to make a few phone calls or to work on some other kind of promotional activity.

Realize that although you cannot spend large chunks of time working on your home business, you can spend smaller blocks of time, and these add up to a lot of time spent on your business.

Develop a system for getting and staying organized. The more time you have to spend flipping through papers or looking for lost items, the less time you will have to spend on productive business activities.

Track your results and eliminate any activities which are not producing good and profitable results. Although some of these may be fun, when you are working full time and running a home business, you simply do not have the time for these.

You may have to sacrifice now in order to accomplish your long term goals but if you follow the above steps to your home business success, you will eventually be able to quit your full time job and make your home business your full time job.

List important up coming launches from others
I often receive emails and updates from some of my favorite websites and sellers about product launches or teleconferences that would be beneficial to my work at home business. Most webmasters and internet marketers will send an email a least three day in advance to let you know.

If you’re interested in an online event, be sure to mark it down on your calendar, noting the date and time, then schedule your day to include it. It’s the same as reminding yourself of an important date in your personal life; we need to remind ourselves of important events that affect our work at home business, so we can properly time manage to include it.

Write down all your ideas
You’ve read that ebook, and now have all sorts of ideas for improving your work at home business. Writing down your ideas, even as a simple draft, will help you to remember them as well as prepare them. Keeping a spread sheet of future article ideas, if you’re an internet marketer for example, can save you many hours of idea searching.

Seeing your idea by your work area brings it to the forefront of your mind. This way, when you read or see something that can add to your project you’re more likely to recognize it and save it. Thus, you’re doing the research for your project without having to spend hours each day doing so. Clean your office

Because making a six figure income is not impossible when you operate a work at home business online, your messy office could be costing you a very luxurious lifestyle.

You’re running a business, and this means important files and document need to be properly filed and close at hand. Keep your computer desk top free of clutter and eliminate anything that you aren’t using.

Want to buy a franchise opportunity? Great idea! Here is a high-level overview on what to look for:

Operating History - A long history of success is the #1 thing to look for. If many other franchisees have been successful over the years, your chances are probably pretty good that you will be successful too.

Location, location, location – Investigate the territory rights. Make sure that your site

selection is a good one. Don’t settle for a second rate site.

Investigate – Don’t believe everything you hear or read from the franchisor! Investigate. Lean on those experts around you such as an attorney or an accountant. Visit some existing franchisees(choose to visit ones that the franchisor does not recommend, not just the ones that they feed you).

Labor pool – If your franchise is labor intensive (example: restaurant), what is the depth and quality of the available labor pool? Any business needs a strong qualified workforce in order to succeed.

Initial training – Make sure that you and all key employees are adequately prepared. Grand opening support is a must.

Ongoing support – A critical component for success. Make sure that all levels of support are included, and get it in writing upfront! Don’t rely on their statement, “Don’t worry, we will take care of you”.

Marketing programs – Franchise marketing is important. Make sure that any marketing dollars contributed to the franchisor are spent wisely.

Purchasing power – Can the franchisor pass on cost savings to you based on mass purchasing power?

Exit strategy – If the opportunity does not work, what is your exit strategy? Will the franchisor assist you in re-selling the franchise? Will they help market it for you? Many franchisors will actually provide a section on their web site for franchise re-sales. Beware if there are a lot of re-sales relative to the total number of franchises in existence.
